About OweNo
OweNo helps you split expenses with friends, family, and roommates. Create a group, share its link, and start tracking who paid what. No ads, and no account required. Sign in by email to keep your group list and preferences up to date across devices.

Start sharing expenses
Create a group for your trip, household, or friends. To open an existing group, choose Add existing group and paste its link, ID, or alias.
Use OweNo without an account, or sign in from Settings to keep your group list and preferences up to date across devices. You can also save a backup file there.
A group for everyone sharing the cost
Name your group, choose its main currency, and add the people sharing expenses. You can add or remove participants later.
Optional details let you add a description, an easier link with a permanent alias, or a group password. Choose who you are under Your preferences to personalize balances.
Your group is ready to share
Use Share in the group header to copy its link. Ordinary sharing links allow editing; protected groups also ask for a password. If invitations are required, ask the group manager for a viewing or editing invitation.
Group settings holds the copyable group ID, alias, participants, currency, and password controls. The bell lets you choose notifications for this group.
Record who paid and who shares it
Enter a title and amount, choose who paid, then select who shares the expense. You can split evenly or use shares, percentages, amounts, and adjustments.
The category beside the title is suggested as you type; tap it to change it. The amount accepts calculations, and Optional details has notes and recurring expenses.
Find expenses and see what everyone owes
Search titles, notes, or amounts. Filters narrows results by date, payer, category, or recurring expenses. Possible duplicates are flagged for review.
Balances shows who owes whom, and Settle up records a payment. Stats shows spending patterns; Activity shows edits and group changes. Other people’s expense changes appear while the group is open.
Keep track of changes
Activity records expenses being added, edited, deleted, or restored, along with recurring and group-setting changes.
Use search and Filters to narrow results by date, payer, category, or type. Load more adds the next 20 entries.
Keep your group list and preferences handy
Email sign-in uses a link, with no account password. While signed in, your group list, display mode, stars, archived groups, participant choices, and dismissed duplicate warnings update across devices automatically.
Signing in brings your local groups and preferences into an empty account, or asks before replacing them with your account’s choices. You can also save a backup file. Notifications and group password unlocks are set on each device. Offline changes sync when you reconnect.
Keep going while offline
Groups you have already opened can be available offline. Add expenses or settlement payments; Pending sync means they will upload when you reconnect. Check any failed entries and retry them.
Reconnect to edit existing expenses or group settings. If OweNo needs to verify your sign-in, reconnect and reload first.
More useful tools
Use recurring expenses for regular bills, multiple payers for shared payments, and other currencies for travel. Download all saved expenses and payments from the Expenses header, including a CSV in Splitwise’s format.
Star or archive groups from your group list. Settings has appearance and notification preferences. Install OweNo from your browser; on iPhone or iPad, add it to the Home Screen before enabling notifications.
